While diving, you can access a map showing your location. If you have a DVL or a positioning system connected, you can also see the ROV's position. The map can be downloaded beforehand if you do not have a cellular connection during the dive. This article guides you through how to download areas of a map for later usage.
1. Open the Blueye App, tap "Settings" in the lower right corner and press "App settings".
2. Inside the "App settings" scroll down and press "Map settings"
3. Select a map in the dropdown. If you are located outside Norway we recommend using "Open street map". If you are located in Norway we recommend using "Kartverket Norges kart". Google maps cannot be downloaded for offline use, but they can be used with a mobile data connection during a dive.
4. Zoom into your area of interest and press "Download map". Keep in mind the app will download all zoom levels within the map you have on the screen when pressing the download button, so make sure you have not zoomed too far out. If that is the case the app will issue a warning.
If you want to double check you got all the maps you need, you can test this before diving by disabling WiFi and mobile data. Go to Settings, "App Settings", and enable "Demo mode". Go back to the main screen and tap "Start Dive" and go to "Navigation" tab within the dive menu.
If you want to delete your downloaded maps you can clear the cache of the Blueye application.
