How to install
How to install the Blueye App
After setting up the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 according to the instructions in the box, you install the Blueye App and the Blueye Observer App like any other Android app from Google Play.
How to configure the Active Key
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 has a programmable Active Key button on the side of the tablet. We recommend programming this button to launch the Blueye App. It will provide you with a quick way to launch the Blueye App. If you are already running the Blueye App and accidentally press the button, this will ensure you are not navigated away to another app by mistake.
- Open the Settings menu.
- Select "Advanced Features."
- Tap "Active Key."
- Select the [Press] action.
- From the options available, select the Blueye App.
- Now select the [Press and hold action].
- From the options available, select the Blueye Observer App or an app of choice, such as Microsoft Teams, or Android Settings.
- Once you have programmed the Active Key, you can exit the setting menu and test it by pressing the red Active Key button.
We recommend programming the Active Key to launch the Blueye App.
How to configure the Side Key
The side key on the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Active3 can also be programmed. We recommend programming it to show the power-off menu instead of launching the built-in Bixby application when pressing and holding this button. This will make it more convenient to power off the tablet after use and will prevent you from accidentally launching Bixby, which is of no relevance.
- Open the Settings menu.
- Select "Advanced Features."
- Tap "Side key."
- Change the "Double press" option from "Quick launch camera" to open an app of your choice.
- Change the "Press and hold" option from "Wake Bixby" to "Power off menu."

How to use
Controlling the Blueye underwater drone
Controlling your Blueye underwater drone with the Rugged Controller is not much different than with a standard iOS, Android, or Xbox Controller. However, there are some minor changes to the controls due to the unique layout of the Rugged Controller.
The most significant changes from the default controller layout are:
- The left and right shoulder buttons are missing.
- The left D-pad can be pressed and acts as the left alt key, altering the function of other buttons.
- The right button circle can be pressed and acts as the right alt key, altering the function of other buttons. For instance, pressing the circle, and pressing left, will capture a still picture.
- The volume up and down buttons can be used to adjust the static boost/slow values of the drone.
Charging the tablet
You can charge the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 tablet through the USB-C port on the bottom right of the controller. The controller itself does not have a battery and gets powered by the tablet.
We recommend turning off the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 tablet after use, as the controller will remain on and drain the battery over time, even if the tablet screen is off.
