Recommended Devices

The Blueye App and the Blueye Observer App are available for Android 10.0, iOS 15.0 devices, and Mac computers using the M-series processor. At Blueye, we test against a wide range of devices, and this list includes some of the devices we know will give a great user experience.

iOS Devices

We highly recommend iOS devices using the Apple A11 Bionic chip or newer.

Warning: The 6th and 7th generation iPads still use A10, while the 8th generation iPad, the iPad Air, Pro, and Mini all use A11 or newer.

Apple Mac

In November 2020, Apple introduced the next generation of Macs based on their new M1 processor. The M-series chips are designed by Apple, and offering superior performance and battery characteristics. The M-architecture is similar to the Apple Bionic chips found in the iPhone and iPad mobile devices, enabling the new M-based Macs to install and run iPad applications in macOS. All new Macs are now based on M-series chips.

Apple Vision Pro

In February 2024, Apple introduced a new product category with the Apple Vision Pro spatial computing headset. The VisionOS is capable of running compatible iPadOS apps, and both the Blueye App and the Blueye Observer App run great on the Vision Pro headset.

Android Devices

The Android list is not exhaustive, as there are too many devices on the market for us to be able to test all of them. If you have a good experience with a particular Android device not on the list, please let us know in the comments section so we can add it.
