Automatically check for update
When launching the Blueye App when connected to the Internet, it will automatically check for available updates from the Blueye Cloud. If an update is available the app will prompt you to download the update. You can choose to download the update, view more information about this particular update, ignore the prompt until the next time you launch the app or ask not to be prompted again for this particular update.
Manually check for update
Connect your mobile device to a Wi-Fi with an Internet connection, or use your 4G cellular connection. Each update is about 250 MB in size, so take this into consideration if downloading over cellular.
Once connected to the Internet, navigate to Settings, Drone settings, and Drone software update, and wait for the page to load.
If there is an update available you can tap the Download update button to start the download. This will take some minutes depending on your connection speed.
Once the download is completed the page will reload, and you can see which version is available on your device.
Applying a Blunux update to the drone
After downloading a Blunux update to your device, you can reconnect with the Blueye Surface Unit Wi-Fi and power on the drone. When connecting the app will check if you have a newer Blunux version available on your device than the one installed on the drone. If an update is available, the app will prompt you to apply the update to the drone.
Alternatively, you can navigate to Settings, Drone settings, and Drone software update. If the version number on your device is greater than the version on the drone, you will now be able to tap Apply update to drone to install the update. The installation process takes about 5 minutes.
NB! Make sure your mobile device, surface unit, and drone have more than 30% battery before you start the update process.
Your drone is now successfully updated! Return to the Connect screen to start diving. If you want to clear up some storage from your device (250 MB), you can delete the update file by tapping the Delete file on device button. You can always go back to the Drone software update page and check for new updates when connected to the Internet.
Required Blunux updates
Starting with version 2.5 of the Blueye App we will require version 1.7 or newer of Blunux installed on the drone. If you are connecting to a drone running an unsupported version of Blunux you will get a warning.
