The Blunux Web App replaces the deprecated Blueye File Transfer desktop app and offers a streamlined way to transfer files from your drone to your computer.
1. Accessing the Blunux web interface
- Turn on the drone and surface unit.
- Join the surface unit’s Wi‑Fi network on your laptop, tablet or phone.
- Open a web browser and navigate to the surface unit’s IP address (
http://192.168.1.101). - The Blunux dashboard will load with a sidebar containing Overview, Media, Files, and other sections.
2. Downloading via the Media tab
The Media tab displays image and videos grouped by date, making it easy to visually browse your footage.
Single file download
- Click Media in the sidebar.
- Scroll to find the the photo or video you want.
- Hover over or tap the thumbnail and select the preview icon.
- In the preview view, click the download icon to save that file. Your browser will prompt you to choose a location.
Multiple file download
- In the Media tab, use the checkboxes next to each thumbnail to select several files, or click Select all for an entire section.
- Once files are selected, a download toolbar appears (the bottom of the page).
- Click the download button.
3. Downloading via the Files tab
The Files tab lists every file stored on the surface unit; media files, dive logs and other data in a structured table.
Single file download
- Select Files in the sidebar.
- Locate the file you need using the search bar or by sorting the columns (Name, Type, Size, Date).
- Click the three‑dot menu (⋯) at the end of the file’s row.
- Choose Download. The file will download directly to your device.
Multiple file download
- In the Files tab, tick the checkboxes for each file you wish to download. You can also use Select all at the top to mark every file.
- When at least one file is selected, a toolbar appears (along the bottom edge).
- Click Download selected.
4. When to use Media vs. Files
- Media tab: Best for visually browsing and selecting photos or videos. You can preview content before downloading and filter by date or type.
- Files tab: Useful when you need to download files by name, type or date without previews, or when you want to include non‑media files such as dive logs. Sorting and search tools help locate specific items quickly.
