How to install
All guest ports can be used for the Omniscan 450 Sidescan Sonar.
WARNING: Always power off the ROV before connecting or disconnecting external equipment to prevent damage, also when using the Quick Connect.
First time installation
1. Remove battery covers, side covers and buoyancy. See the Help Center video fro changing the tether for detailed instructions on this step.
2. Disconnect the 450 SS cable from the sidescan canister mount. Remove the back cover by disengaging the snap hooks.
3. Disconnect the main cable from the bottom connector of the canister, circled in the picture.
4. Install the 450 SS cable and route the cable as shown in the pictures. The exact cable routing depends on the equipment configuration. Attach the cable with zip-ties. Ensure the o-rings on the connector are not dried out. Apply o-ring greace as needed.
5. If a DVL is attached, remove it bottom of the drone before re-installing the side covers. Remove the DVL by pushing it forward. The DVL will later be attached to the bottom of the 450 Sidescan mount.
6. Re-install bouyancy and the right side cover.
7. Route all cables down and out at the bottom of the drone, in the order shown in the picture.
8. Install the left bouyancy and side cover, while the drone is laying on its side.
9. Install the multibeam skid, and route all cables down through the top of the skid.
10. Secure the multibeam skid with the thumbscrew.
11. Connect the servo- and multibeam cable to the devices. See the Multibeam Help Center article for all details relating to the Multibeam skid.
12. Place the sidescan canister mount and left- and right transducers on the table. The right transducer has a cutout for the servo in the front.
13. Attach the transducers to the skid with the four enclosed M4x12 screws.
14. Slide the DVL into the sidescan canister mount, from the front.
15. Click the sidescan canister mount into place between the metal rails. Ensure that the main cable is on the left side of the vechile, and use the cable retainer to secure it in place.
16. Reinstall the main cable into the sidescan canister. The cable has a keyfeature to guide orientation.
17. Route the transducer cables, and main cable forward, to the left of the thumb screw. The transducer cables should go around and back with the aft canister mount arm. This allows the transducer cables to pushed into the cable retainer.
18. Push the back cover of the sidescan canister back in place, so that the three cables are guided through the channel, and the cover snaps in place.
19. Reinstall the battery cover on the drone.
Software configuration
To communicate with the Omniscan 450 Sidescan Sonar you use the SonarView software from Cerulan. See their online manual for instructions on how to install and configure the software.
After attaching the equipment and installing the SonarView software to a PC or Mac, you connect your computer to the Blueye Surface Unit and power on the drone.
The SonarView software will discover the two transducers, which have been pre-configured with the following IP addresses:
- Left transducer: 192.168.1.90
- Right transducer: 192.168.1.91
